THE GENERAL DATA

System basic element timing is the cam-shaft located in a head of the block of cylinders and put in action by a gear belt from a cranked shaft.

Phases timing (measured at a working backlash of valves):

 – OZD: 6 before ВМТ;
 – ZZD: 32 after НМТ;
 – OZW: 57 before НМТ;
 – ZZW: 7 after ВМТ.

OZD and ZZD – accordingly opening and closing of the inlet valve; OZW and ZZW - accordingly opening and closing of the final valve.

Cam-shaft

The cam-shaft leans against five bearings, containing thin-walled loose leaves.

Lifting of valves:

 – The inlet: 10 mm;
 – The final: 9 mm.

Axial люфт: 0,1–0,2 mm.

Diameter of necks of bearings: 27,960–27,980 mm.

Backlash in cam-shaft bearings: 0,020–0,079 mm.

Gear belt

The gear belt puts in action a cam-shaft, an intermediate shaft and the pump of a cooling liquid.

Mark: Motorcraft.

Tension: it is regulated by automatically roller tension device.

Periodicity of replacement: each 60 000 km of run.
