Carburettor Ford W (Motorcraft Venturi Variable), named also the carburettor with changeable section диффузора, single-chamber, with поплавковой the chamber and the fuel spray of changeable section operated vacuum.

The vacuum formed in an inlet collector thanks to work of the engine, operates opening заслонки диффузора, and also change of section of the fuel jet closed by the calibrated conic needle. This carburettor has the device of enrichment of a mix during start of the cold engine, included automatically and operated the bimetallic spring reacting to changes of temperature. The accelerating pump enriching a mix at fast opening throttle заслонки, also copes vacuum.

The basic system of a dosage of fuel consists of the main and additional jets, and also the calibrated conic needle regulating giving of fuel in диффузор of the carburettor. Fuel arrives from jets of the carburettor under the influence of the vacuum formed in диффузоре through which takes place air (between the main jet and mobile заслонкой, fig. At small loading on the engine the needle connected with mobile заслонкой, almost completely closes the main fuel jet. In process of loading increase on the engine the vacuum amplifies and mobile заслонка gradually opens section диффузора. Together with it the needle moves, increasing section of a stream of fuel, and also the additional fuel jet opens. The needle is made with the big accuracy and makes the important element of an exact dosage of fuel depending on loading on the engine. It is not necessary to regulate (to change installation) needles.

In a no-load time when to the engine air small amount arrives, mobile заслонка is in the extreme, closed position and it is kept by a returnable spring of a diaphragm of a vacuum regulator. In process of diaphragm opening intensity of a proceeding stream of air grows and the vacuum inside диффузора increases. This vacuum, influencing a regulator, causes moving заслонки a regulator, and together with it mobile заслонки and needles. Diaphragm position during each moment of time is defined by balance of forces influencing it: vacuum and a returnable spring.
